state representatives and congressmen relative to our interests on legislative matters. Interest in membership promotion has increased. One hospital has membership. There has been much interest in promotion of recruitment of student nurses through the following activities: sent leaflets and booklets relative to nursing to high school counselors and libraries, made visits to high schools on "Career Days," students of High Point Memorial Hospital assisted with polio immunization and in bloodraobile visits. District constantly in contact with city Civil Defense Committee and cooperates in every way. Excellent newspaper coverage of meetings including advance notices and account of programs. President of the District is a member of the Board of Directors of Guilford County Mental Health Association. Four hospitals have Social Security coverage. Have had dinner meetings and tried to encourage active participation in discussions. Have given time for committee reports. Tried to begin meetings on time and close on time. Have had good cooperation in all civic and community affairs. Nurses assisted with polio immunization and bloodraobile programs. Had an increase in AJN subscriptions this year. Outstanding Problems; Attendance. Membership. Problems Being Met By: Personal contact with all potential members. Inviting new graduates to meetings. Having good food, interesting meetings, and reasonable length of time for meetings. Financiail Status; Balance in checking account -- _ _ _ _ $267.07. Government bond of $100.00. DISTRICT TEN J4rs.
