N., Secretary; and Mrs. Edith G. Webster, R. N., Treasurer. NORTH CAROLINA BAPTIST ALUi�AE ASSOCIATION Mrs. Mary Joe Brookbank, R. N., President, Winston-Salem The Association has 119 active members with an average attendance of twelve. The programs for the year were varied. Officers for 1955 are: Mrs. Mary Joe Brookbank, R. N., President; Dot Inscore, R, N., First Vice President; Ruth Harrison, R. N., Second Vice President; Mrs. Opal K. Furches, R. N., Secretary; Mrs. Mary Wray Fulton, R. N,, Treasurer; and Annie Smith, R. N., Ann Casstevens, R. ^X, Ruby West, R. N., and Mary Emma Rhodes, R. N., Members of Board of Directors. Activities of the Association; have two loan funds for student nurses -namely, the Edna L. Heinzerling Loan Fund and the Stingsson Roddick Loan Fund; gave a monthly subscription to a book club to the Student Nurses' Library; presented a $5.00 Christmas check to each of the two student nurses using loan funds; gave a gift to Mrs. Frances Home Smith and Edna L. Heinzerling while they were ill; gave a donation on a piano for the nurses' home; gave a gift to each member of the Graduating Class; and published a quarterly Newsletter. DISTRICT FOUR THREE ALUMNAE ASSOCIATIONS DAVIS ALUMNAE ASSOCIATION Mrs. Mabel Reynolds, R. N., President, Statesville The Davis Hospital Alumnae Association has a membership of one hundred and six. We have had seven meetings this year with an average attendance of twenty-two members, plus two called meetings for officers and committee members. One Nightengale Pledge Plaque was presented to the senior nurse with the highest scholastic record, and one to the senior with the best ward technique, by the Alumnae Association. Association activities; Sent flowers to all sick members; mailed newsletter to all paid members quarterly; renewed subscription to the magazine "Seventeen" for student nurses; several members of the alumnae volunteered their services in helping to assist doctors in giving polio vaccine, and helped with health clinics held in public schools; nurses participated in the Civil Defense Program; and had an auction sale in May. H. F. LONG'S ALUIMAE ASSOCIATION Mrs. Marilee Pharr, R. N., President, Statesville Officers for 1955 are as follows: i/irs. Marilee Pharr, President; Mrs. Ruth Thompson, Vice President; Mrs. Elizabeth James, Secretary; and Mrs. Mildred Turner, Treasurer. Our Association has seventeen members, one non-resident and four honorary members, lie have had nine meetings in the homes of members with an average attendance of fifteen. - 61 -
