The Conanittee felt it should have more data on the amount of nursing service needed and more study should be made of the North Carolina Insurance Act. Mr. Crawford volunteered to furnish the Nurses' Association with data from the diagnostic records of the Hospital Saving Association, and also secure data from Insurance Agencies in other states. The Hospital Savings Association would cooperate in working out a sound policy. The Committee feels that the friendly and constructive discussion of these representatives and the assurance of the cooperation of their organizations is another step in eventually having nursing service included in the existing state voluntary non-profit prepayment plans. The Hospital Saving Association is now in the process of surveying a cross section of their groups in an effort to ascertain whether or not subscribers to hospital care plans are interested in a limited amount of private duty nursing service in addition to the services they now receive. REPORT OF SPECIAL COMCTTEE ON RED CROSS NURSIMG SERVICE Lake Allen, R. N., Chairman The Committee is composed of Lake Allen, Chairman, Mrs. Elaine Wearn Mrs. Grace Collie. One meeting w as held in Headquarters' Office in Raleigh, June 6. Members of the Coinnittee haves 1. Acted as liaison between the North Carolina State Nurses' Association and Red Cross Chapter committees with regard to{ a. Recruiting nurses for polio nursing, and b. Cooperating with the Emergency Medical Committee of the Medical Society of North Carolina. 2. Assisted in providing Red Cross material for programs of state and district meetings of nurses' association. 3. Arranged for a speaker and a Red Cross exhibit for the Annual Convention. REPORT OF SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON REGISTRIES Kate Herndon, R. N., Chairman An additional official registry has been organized in Concord, District #6, with Mrs. Edna B. Turner, R. N,, as registrar. There are now nine official registries in the state. Reports from eight registries were received listing a total of 675 registrants. � ; , , In an effort to establish standard rules for governing the operation of official registries, the rules have been revised and sent to all districts operating registries for consideration after approval of the Board of Directors of the NCSNA. To date four registries have adopted the revised rules. Six registries report they are using professional Counseling and placement Service Application Forms as the official registry application form, - 26 -
