ELLEN FITZGERALD ALUMNAE ASSOCIATION No Report GOOD SAMRITAN ALUMNAE ASSOCIATION No Report GORDON CROVffiLL MEMORIAL ALUMNAE ASSOCIATION Mrs. Mary W. Hovis, R. N., President The Gordon Crowell Alumnae Association has ten active members and seven associate members who work closely with the active membei-s. The Association was saddened by the death of one of the associate members, Mrs. T, B. Smith, in July of this year. One meeting is held each month at the homes of the ,various menfaers. This year a yearbook was made which helped greatly in planning the years' work. A Christmas party was held during the Christmas season with a delightful social hour and the exchange of gifts. Special contri,butions have been made to the March of Dimes, Cancer and Red Cross drives. Money was raised by selling flavoring, Christmas Cards, and all-occasion cards during the year. This was given, in addition to a monthly contribution, to the "Jimmy Henderson Fund", which is a local project by the Alumnae Association. An additional contribution was made to the "Jean Crowell Fund" which was created in honor of a local child who died of poliomyelitis. J/ERCY ALWMAE ASSOCIATION Kay Carson, R. N., President The Mercy Hospital Alumnae Association has had a very active year. The American Journal of Nursing was bound for the Nurses' Library. A financial contribution was made toward the construction of a new wing for the hospital. Christmas baskets were sent to the poor. Flowers were sent to the families of deceas<?.d members. ANA memberships were given to the Administrator and Director of Nurses. A panel discussion of the bills on "Federal Aid to Nursing Education" was held and letters were written to Representatives concerning the bills. Many of the members attended the institute on "In-Service Program" held in April, fllso the institute on "Polio" given by the American Red Cross. The Mercy Hospital Cap was changed August 15, 1951 by adding a black band to the graduate's cap. Programs were held at each meeting. These included lectures by doctors on new drugs, reports by student nurses on the progress of nurses, educational- - 65 -
