Population/Primary Care Physician Ratio by AHEC Region, (1980) | | 2500/ to 4000/1 (30) J Greater than 4000/1 (12) ACTIVE NON-FEDERAL PHYSICIANS SOURCE: N.C. BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS As of 1980, 58% of the state's 100 counties had ratios of population to primary care physicians of less that 2500:1. In addition, 32 of the remaining 42 counties showed improvement in their ratios during the period 1972-1980.
