TEXTII BIEXXIAL KEPOKT. 11) better po^^ition to speak authoritatively upon the siil)jeot than I am. J)i?. Bttlek: ^Ir. Presirleiit, I came to this meeting' at vonr sna'U'estion vester<hiv on the train, not with the intention of doina' any talking'. I came here rather for the pleasure of listenino' and learnini>'. I do not kno^v that 1 have anv- c cr f. thing new to say on the subject that you are not already familiar with. You know that since last year investigations have been goins; on in regard to the intermissi])ilitv of bovine o o o i- and human tuberculosis, l)ut I do not know if anvthing has t o been done that you are not perfectly familiar with, and 1 would not wish to take uj) your time discussing it. The tendencv is to sIioav that the dana'er which was once fancied *. cr to exist from the consumption of the products of the lower animals is not nearly so great; that there is little danger ])er- haps, yet I think the result of investigation shows that there is danger, and some of the recent work seems to confirm it. The tendency of recent research was to prove that there did exist some danger, and while I am chietlv inter- ested myself from a veterinary standpoint, even if there was no possibility of communicating it to man, still I do not think the physician can afford not to take the advice that has been given us, and use all })recaution as to communication of bovine tuberculosis to the human familv. I certainlv think «. < we ought to strictly sui)ervise the pro<lucts from the dairy. (.'jiAimiAx : Any other remarks, gentlemen ( Dr. 11. H. Lewis: I would like to offer the following resolution : h'csoJrcfh That the conjoint session of the North Carolina Board of Health and the State Medical Society adopt, in so far as the local conditions wWl permit, the recommendations of the Chief Statistician of the Ignited States Census Bureau as to collection and rei^istration of vital statistics. Seconded and adopted. CiTAimrAx : Anv further l)usiness before the house ? t
