Dear Sir:—I herewith submit a detailed report of the work done in the laboratory of the Board of Health during the twelve months included in the period from 3Iay 1, lOOP,, to April ao, 11104. Total number of analyses and determinations.................. These include the following samples, to-wit: Public water supplies, monthly analyses....................... 22(> Analyses of water for physicians and health officers of counties.. i;!0 Examinations of sputum for physicians........................ ">7 Examinations of throat exudates, diphtheritic.................. 53 Examinations of blood for Plasmodium malariie................ 18 Examinations of fjvces for hookworm......................... 32 Total................................................... The official examinations of public water supplies, under the law passed by the last Legislature, was begun in ^lay. 1003. No work was done in the laboratory during June. Tlie full number of analyses required of the water companies under the law was therefore eleven. This number was actually taken by only four companies; the others.
