Johnson, Mills River. There has been an epidemic of measles, also a few cases of bronchitis, erysipelas, typhoid fever and rheumatism. Public buildings in very good condition, Lenoir-—Dr. F. M. Rountree, Kinston, The sanitary a)ndition of county is good. Have had an epidemic of cold with bronchial catarrh, but not very serious. Jail is in good sanitary condition, well ventilated and kept clean. Lincoln—Dr. J. ^L Lavving, Lincolnton. Measles still prevail. Otherwise the county is almost healthy. There seems to be a state epidemic of measles. Public buildings are in as good condition as we can expect to have them. McDowell—Dv. J. H. Gilkey, Marion. Measles and whooping-cough have prevailed in many parts of county, complicated often with bronchitis and pneumonia. Jail and poor-house are in good condition. Macon—T>t. J. M. Lyle, Franklin. Influenza and measles have prevailed to a very great extent. Except these the health of the county has been fairly good. One case of typhoid fever reported. Public buildings in good condition. A/adison—Dr. J. K. Hardwick, Marshall. Measles have prevailed in all portions of county. About 150 cases reported. County and public buildings, except jail, in good condition. Alontgofnery—Dr. W. A. Simmons, Troy. An epidemic of measles has prevailed, but have heard of no deaths from it. There have been a few cases of whooping-cough. Other than that there has been but little sickness. New Hanover—Dr. F. W. Potter, Wilmington. There have prevailed no diseases of a pernicious nature. There has been a good deal of catarrhal fever. A few scattering cases of measles, scarlatina, diphtheria and typhoid fever have occurred. Jail is in excellent condition. House of correction and poor-house have been thoroughly renovated, a plenty of lime, soap ard sulphur being used. No7-thajnpton—Dr. H. \V. Lewis, Jackson. Bronchitis and pneumonia have prevailed. There has also been one case of hemorrhagic malarial fever. The health of county very good. Public buildings in good condition. . Onslow—\}x. W. J. Montford, Ward's Mill. No report since Dec. 1886. Pender—V>x, W. T. Ennett, Burgaw. Malarial fevers have prevailed. There have been also several cases of measles, whooping cough, scarlatina and typhoid fever. Poor-house in as good sanitary condition as the nature of the building will allow. Person—Dr. C. E. Bradsher, Roxboro. No report. /'///—Dr. J. T. Sledge, Greenville. No report. RicJwiond—Dr. J. M. Stansill, Rockingham. A few cases of measles and whooping cough have occurred. The general health of county is good. Sanitary condition of jail and poor-house good. Robeson—Dr. R. F. Lewis, Lumberton. Pneumonia has prevailed in many portions of the county. The sanitary condition being good. Rotvan—Dr. J. J. Summerell, Salisbury. Measles have prevailed in all and pneumonia and bronchitis in some portions of county.
