Catarrhal fever and pneumonia have prevailed in some sections of the county. There has been no epidemic among domestic animals. There has been one death from tonsillitis, 4 from pneumonia. Henderson,—Dr. L. L. Johnson, Hender-sonville. The following diseases have occurred in Henderson county: Pneumonia, i ; rheumatism, 6; influenza, 3; diphtheria, 2; typhoid fever, 7. Sanitary condition of the county— still have some cases of typhoid fever in different parts of the county. Sanitary condition of the jail and poor-house very good. Iredell,—Dx. M. W. Hill, Statesville. No epidemic of any kind has prevailed in Iredell or any portion-of it. There has been no epidemic among domestic animals, but there have occurred isolated cnses of disease among the hogs and chickens. There have been 4 cases of typhoid fever. The sanitary condition of the county is very good, as far as the Supt. has the means of knowing. The poor-house is in good condition—no sickness there. The jail passed muster under the examination of the Grand Jury, and may be said to be in a very fair sanitary condition. The following are the deaths in the county for November : 'Among the whites—consumption, i; convulsions, i; marasmus, i; parturition, i; typhoid fever, 3; total, 7. Johnston,—No report since August, 1887. JonesR. F. Whitaker. Trenton. There has been little sickness during the month. Three cases of typhoid fever have been reported. Health of the county never better. Sanitary condition of the public buildings is good. Lenoir.—Dr. F. M. Rountree, Kinston. No sickness in the county. Sanitary condition of the public buildings is good. Lincoln.—D. J. M. Lawing, Lincolnton. Typhoid fever, rheumatism and bronchitis have prevailed. There have been also a few cases of diphtheria, but only one death from this cause, so far as I learned. During November there was no sickness and no deaths at the poor-house. Arrangements have been made to supply this institution with new and more comfortable bedding. Suitable and sufficient food is served. Sanitary condition of the jail about as usual. Macon,—Dr. J. M. Lyle, Franklin. Some cases of bronchitis and pneumonia have occurred in some portions of the county. There has been distemper among the horses. The general sanitary condition of our county is good in the main. Some little of our old-time filthiness exists at some points, but in general our people take more pains as to cleanliness and cookery than thirty years ago. There have been five cases of typhoid fever. Public buildings in good sanitary condition. Members of the profession do not report to the Superintendent. Madison.—Dr. Jas. H. Hardwicke, Marshall. Health of the county is good. The public buildings are in good sanitary condition, with exception of heating arrangements for the jail. McDowell, J. H. Tilkey, Marion. Pneumonia and bronchitis have prevailed in many portions of the county. There has been no epidemic among the domestic animals. The general sanitary condition of the public buildings is good, and efforts are being made to keep them so. One case of typhoid fever has been reported. Montgomefy.—Dr. W. A. Simmons, Troy. No particular disease has prevailed. The health of the county is excellent. The Supt. is sick with carbuncle. The county has to build a court-house, and is not able under the law to make any effort at improving the jail, but it does not need much. Mecklenburo.—No report from county.
