BULLETIN OF THE NORTH CAROLINA BOARD OF HEALTH. I I I Transylvania—Dr. D. H. Farmer, Brevard. Catarrhal diseases and mumps have prevailed throughout the county, but in light form ; otherwise the sanitary condition is excellent, as is also the jail, which is kept in good order, and remarkably clean. There is no epidemic in the county. Tyrrell—Dr. Ab. Alexander, Columbia. There is no sickness m the county, and the sanitary condition of the pubhc buildings is good. Union—Dr. W. C. Ramsey, Monroe. This county has been generally healthy, except some eight or ten cases of pneumonia, from which four deaths have resulted. The sanitary condition of the poor-house is good, while that of the jail is bad. Yance—Dr. Fletcher R. Harris, Henderson. There has been no sickness, except that usual at this season of the year. The jail is in good sanitary condition. Wake—Dr. James McKee, Raleigh. Epidemic influenza has prevailed in the county, but there has been no epidemic of any kind among domestic animals. See also monthly mortuary report for Raleigh. Wafren—Dr. P. J. Macon, Warrenton, There has been more pneumonia, sore-throat and rheumatism than usual, due to cold and damp atmosphere. Several cases of measles have been reported. There has been no epidemic among domestic animals. The condition of the poor-house is better than for a long time, but the diet is insufficient for such feeble, weak digestions and constitutions as we have in our wards. JVaskt?igton~No organized Board of Health. Watauga—No organized Board of Health. Wilkes—No organized Board of Health. Wayne—Dr. jas. Spicer, Goldsboro. There has been no report of sickness, except two cases of measles, five of whooping-cough, and one of haemorrhagic malarial fever. The general sanitary condition is good. Wilson—Dy. N. Anderson, Wilson. With the exception of a very few cases of pneumonia and tonsillitis, excellent health is reported from all over the county. The sanitary condition of the county is good, while that of the poor-house and jail is fine. Yadkin—No organized Board of Health. Yancey—Dr. W. P. Whittington, Burns-ville. The general sanitary condition of the county is good ; and, with the exception of six cases of typhoid fever, no sickness has been reported. The sanitary condition of the public buildings is only moderate. The jail needs covering.
