290 The Carolina Journal of Pharmacy Drug Co, remaining with the firm until he opened a drug store of his own in Old Fort in 1922 under the name of the Bradley Drug Co. To his bereaved family the Journal extends sincerest sympathy. Hundreds of friends throughout the State will be shocked to learn of the death of ME. GEOEGE J. EOWLAND, aged 46, well known and popular druggist of Henderson, in the Maria Parham hospital on June 28, from the effects of an overdose of morphine. Mr. Eowland had been in the drug business in Henderson for 20 odd years. First he was connected with the drug store of ME. MEL- VILLE DOESEY and then for 13 years he conducted a drug business of his own in South Henders|on. Several years ago he bought the Paragon Drug Co., and since that time had been successfully operating the business. The deceased was born in Durham, July 2, 1881, and in his youth joined the Presbyterian church. He attended the University of North Carolina School of Phar-may 1901-02 and was licensed as a pharmacist at the age of 21, moving to Henderson shortly thereafter.
