Abstract | Color print, mounted on linen in four sections. This map portrays all or part of the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. The frequency and types of mail service, mileage between post office, and discontinued post offices are noted. Counties are delineated and named; and towns, railroads, rivers and streams, and other physical features are depicted and identified. One inset map on sheet 4: "Western Part of North Carolina" showing the counties of Cherokee, Graham, and Clay. Charts entitled "Explanations of Mail Service" appear below the titles in the upper left (sheet 1) and lower right (sheet 3) corners of the map. Longitude is measured from the Capitol in Washington. |
