Historical Notes | This is another specimen from the interest-bearing authorization of May 28, 1757. It differs only slightly from the other five-pound note produced for the same issue. This note’s inscription uses the full term “Centum.” On the other five-pound note the abbreviation “Cent.” is used. |

Transcription | NORTH-CAROLINA. No. This NOTE shall entitle the POSSESSOR thereof to Proclamation Money, with Interest, at the Rate of Six per Centum, per Annum, till the Twenty-ninth Day of September which shall be in the Year of our Lord, 1758, to be paid out of the Public Treasury, pursuant to an ACT of ASSEMBLY, passed at Newbern, on the 28th Day of May, 1757. Dated this Day of 1757. Pub. Treas. DEATH to Counterfeit. |
