Project description | Interviews, 1980-1987, conducted by Warren Moore Miller for his book Mountain Voices: A Legacy of the Blue Ridge and Great Smokies (1988), that explore the lives of residents of the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. Interviewees include folklorists; university faculty; attorneys; politicians; a former moonshiner; and several blue collar workers, farmers, craftsmen, and teachers. Among the interviewees are North Carolina United States Senator Sam Ervin, Winston Cup racer Junior Johnson, and ballad singer Cas Wallin. |
