Abstract | Raina Enrique mentions her father's migration experience as a Puerto Rican and the challenges he had to face after moving to the United States. Her father had a difficult time while being in the military because he was not fluent in the English language. Therefore, her father felt secluded since there were not many minorities in the ship during his time in the Navy. Raina describes the connections that she has between the Puerto Rican and the African American culture. In addition, Raina shares her thoughts of the Latina identity and the culture shock she has faced moving from Orlando to North Carolina. |
