This blueprint, titled "Negro Area Development" shows plans for the development of an area for African American visitors in Pine Spur Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The design was created by R.G.H. in October of 1940. The drawing shows a topographic profile of the area in the bottom portion of the page, including an entrance road and parking area, picnic loop, and camping loop. The top left corner lists curve data on the entrance road and picnic area road. The blueprint drawing outlines areas for possible future development, including areas for cabins, a coffee shop, camping and trailer camp areas, picnic tables, playgrounds, horseshoes area, a ball field, and roads, walkways, and landscaping plans. A note on the right side of the page reads "All important trees and shrubs to be saved, if possible, by wells, walls or minor shifts in road line." It also lists the quantity and dimensions of parking areas, roads, stone curbing, fences, tables, and other park items.
