Description	Scenic view of valley near Altamont, NC in autumn. Taken with infrared film. Using Google Earth, this photograph appears to have been made looking SSE from a hilltop just west of U. S. Highway 221 about 1.5 road miles south Altamont. A vertical view of this scene from a slightly different angle (to the right) appears on the cover of 9 October 1954 issue of THE STATE magazine, the negative (1.1.19.2-1-3) for which is in the Morton collection.
