On April 3, 1979, the New York Yankees played the UNC Tar Heels in a preseason game in jammed packed Boshamer Stadium on the UNC campus. A crowd of more than 7,000 saw the Yankees win the rain-delayed, shortened game 9 to 4. The "University Report" newspaper called it "A Great Day In Mudville."
