Abstract	Print, mounted on linen. This is the 1882 edition of a map of the North Landing River first issued by the U.S. Coast Survey in 1861. Triangulation was done by J. J. S. Hassler, topography by John Mechan, and hydrography by Lt. Richard Wainwright. The map was reduced and drawn by F. Fairfax. The ship channel, which was dredged in 1880, is indicated on the map by a broken line and soundings are given. Information relative to the dredging of the channel, the soundings, longitude and latitude, tides, and abbreviations used is found in text appearing in the lower left corner. Inland detail includes land cover, roads, houses, schools, lighthouses, Currituck Court House, and Pungo Ferry.
