Abstract	The map portrays the coastline of North Carolina in Carteret County from Portsmouth Island to Beaufort. Topographical features, roads, cities and towns, and other landmarks are shown. Soundings are given, and the depth of the water is also indicated by contours and shading. Information relating to soundings, aids to navigation, tides, and other aspects of the map is found in the upper left of the map. A map of Lookout Bight appears as an inset in the upper left corner.Shows old canal near Turnagain Bay and hunting quarters near Atlantic on Core Sound. Also noted are islands including Cedar Island, Hog Island, Harkers Island, and Carrot Island. Shackleford Banks and Fort Macon Coast Guard Station also featured.
Historical Note	This map was prepared by the United States Coast Survey from surveys conducted between 1854 and 1913 and from surveys by the United States Army Corps of Engineers to 1913. It was published in June 1915
