Trophy presented to Kay Kyser , 1939 . Trophy is in the shape of a silver , battle-clad woman (Victory/Nike) with her arms raised upward and clutching a laurel wreath in her left hand . The woman stands on an orb upheld by two pairs of wings . The wings rest on a shaft , with an inscription that reads , "PRESENTED TO / KAY KYSER / AND / HIS ORCHESTRA / FOR ESTABLISHING A NEW ATTENDANCE RECORD / FOX DETROIT THEATRE / WEEK- MARCH 17TH 1939 / 124,831 PERSONS. " The trophy has a hollow base . Dimensions : 18 " high (45.7 cm) with base , diameter 5 " (12.7 cm) .

Notes
Kay Kyser (1905-1985) was a leader of a student orchestra at the University of North Carolina who went on to be a big band leader and a Hollywood star . Following graduation , Kyser and his band toured Midwest restaurants and night clubs , gaining enormous popularity after introducing the “Kollege of Musical Knowledge” radio broadcast in 1939 . Soon after , Kyser began appearing in movies and television . He also made more than 1000 appearances at military camps during World War II .
