Trophy presented to Kay Kyser , 1942 . The trophy is in the shape of a bronze winged figure of Victory on a pedestal , with arms raised above her head elevating a flame in a dish . The trophy has a wooden cylindrical base , with an inscription reading , "KAY KYSER'S PROGRAM / BEST MUSICAL PROGRAM / MOVIE-RADIO GUIDE STAR OF STARS / POLL FOR 1942. " Dimensions : 16.5 " (42 cm) tall with base , diameter 5 " (12.5 cm) .

Notes
Kay Kyser (1905-1985) was a leader of a student orchestra at the University of North Carolina who went on to be a big band leader and a Hollywood star . Following graduation , Kyser and his band toured Midwest restaurants and night clubs , gaining enormous popularity after introducing the “Kollege of Musical Knowledge” radio broadcast in 1939 . Soon after , Kyser began appearing in movies and television . He also made more than 1000 appearances at military camps during World War II .
