Notes
The Order of Ghimghoul is a secret society at UNC founded in 1889 by Edward Wray Martin , William W.Davies , Shepard Bryan , Andrew Henry Patterson , and Robert Worth Bingham . Originally named Order of Dromgoole after a student who disappeared from the University in 1833 , the society based its rituals on the Dromgoole legend and the ideals of Arthurian knighthood . Only male students and faculty were invited to join the organization , and no list of current members was provided until the end-of-year publication of the campus yearbook . As of 2013 , the society continues to exist as a social organization .
