"A LARGE DELEGATION OF MARINE CORP OFFICERS were on hand yesterday morning to greet President Harry S. Truman when he stepped off his private plane, 'The Independence,' at the Cherry Point airfield. The President was headed to New Bern where he attended church services at the First Baptist church. Over the President's left shoulder is Fleet Admiral William D. Leahy. After attending church, President Truman left for a two-weeks vacation at Key West, Fla." (As captioned with image in 11/08/48 WILMINGTON MORNING STAR, p. 1)
