Photograph appears in February 1942 issue of THE ALUMNI REVIEW with headline caption, "Trio of Johnstons" and caption, "This is a trio of Carolina men—father and sons. The father is Dr. Charles L. Johnston '15, of Catawissa, Pa. and the sons are C. L. Jr.—called "Gus"—at left and Johnny at right. Johnny captains the 1942 Tar Heel boxers and his brother is a wrestler on the freshman squad. Dr. Johnston came down to Chapel Hill January 31—the same day Mrs. Roosevelt was on campus. But the attraction of the day for Father Johnston was The Citadel-Carolina boxing bouts. he didn't know that the freshman wrestlers had a meet the same day. As it was he saw both sons in action—in different sports."
