TRYON PALACE RESTORATION New Bern, North Carolina. First Permanent Capitol of North Carolina. Built by Royal Governor William Tryon, 1767-70. Restored by Mrs. James Edwin Latham and State of North Carolina, 1952-59. GOVERNOR'S LIBRARY. Furnished with 18th Century antiques, cut velvet draperies, and the re-created Library of Governor Tryon as shown on his inventory. Wall and woodwork color taken from original plaster artifact found in ruins of building. |
