HISTORIC TRYON PALACE New Bern, N.C. Historic Tryon Palace was built 1767-1770. Recognized as one of the finest buildings in colonial America, it was the residence of royal governors William Tryon and Josiah Martin. Later this building became the first state capitol. Restoration completed in 1959 at an approximate cost of $3,000,000.00, marks this as one of America's most beautiful historic shrines. |
