Constructed in 1874, our livesaving station (now the Black Pelican Restaurant) housed courageous men who risked their lives to rescue those who fell prey to the dangerous waters of North Carolina's Outer Banks. IN 1903, it served as the telegraph office from where the Wright Brothers sent their message of first flight. |
