Magazine Spring, Halifax, North Carolina |
Caption |
Magazine Spring, here when the white man came, was supposed to have been built by the Tuscarora Indians. The hill above it is known as Indian Ridge. Indian arrowheads, tomahawks, and other relics found there, point to it as an Indian mound. It was the only source of drinking water for the citizens of Halifax for two hundred years. It was pronounced pure in 1955 by the State Board Analysis. |
