Hand-colored print. This map, like the other maps in the atlas from which it was extracted, were engraved by the New York firm of Thomas Illman and Edward Pillbrow. The counties of both North and South Carolina are named and delineated, with many in North Carolina being misspelled. The Great Smoky and Blue Ridge mountain ranges are indicated by hachures. Rivers and major waterways are shown and identified, but no other topographical features are included. County seats and other significant towns are shown along with major roads. North Carolina's western boundary with Tennessee has been correctly surveyed by the squaring off the southwest corner. Longitude is measured from Greenwich and Washington.
