Printed. This map by an unidentified cartographer was published in and extracted from W. P. Derby's Bearing Arms in the Twenty- Seventh Massachusetts Regiment of Volunteers During the Civil War, 1861-1865. It portrays that part of eastern North Carolina in the vicinity of the Neuse, Tar, and Roanoke rivers and Albemarle and Pamlico sounds that were occupied by Union forces from 1862 to the end of the war. Roads, railroads, and cities and towns are shown. Counties are delineated and named, and waterways and other topographical features are depicted.
