North Carolina is colored in yellow, South Carolina in pink, and Georgia in green. Parts of the surrounding states are also included. The courses of rivers and some streams are shown as well as principal towns and roads. The Alleghany and Blue Ridge mountains are shown in relief by hachures and the Dismal Swamp, located in the Hyde, Tyrrell, and Washington counties area of North Carolina is shown, but few other topographical features are reflected. The western part of North Carolina is extremely condensed, and the border with Tennessee is not accurately drawn. The lands of the Cherokee and Upper Creek Indians and "Gen'l Jacksons Treaty Line" are shown in Georgia.
