Fac-similii copy of a portion of the original map in the office of the Secretary of State at Raleigh, N.C. entitled as follows: Plan of the Province Line from the Cherokee Line to Salisbury Road between North and South Carolina Certified by us this June 4th 1772
This is an in-house positive photocopy of an original manuscript linen tracing made in 1886 from an original copy of the 1772 survey of the boundary between North and South Carolina to accompany the Report on the Survey of the State Boundary Line Adjacent to Union and Mecklenburg Counties by Arthur Winslow. The original linen tracing is among the records of the Secretary of State in Archives custody (SS.XX. Recordkeeping. Records of the State. Boundaries, Box 7). The original copy of the map of the 1772 survey in the secretary of state's office from which the linen tracing was made no longer survives. The tracing shows the portion of the survey in the vicinity of the Catawba Nation tract adjoining present day Union and Mecklenburg counties.
