Blueprint. This map was prepared by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from a survey conducted by H. F. Price in October 1887. It was reduced in the office of Captain William Herbert Bixby and P. Brosig in December 1888. This is a blueprint copy made at the U.S. Engineer Office in Wilmington and sent to the Lenoir County Clerk of Superior Court on October 9, 1889 for the use of the Lenoir County commissioners. It portrays that portion of the Neuse River from Smithfield to New Bern that flows through Lenoir County and a portion of Wayne County. Boat landings, ferries, bridges, and other landmarks are identified.
