Reduced positive photocopy. This map was prepared under the direction of the State Highway and Public Works Commission as one of a series of county maps published by the commission in 1936. This map portrays Columbus County and shows the state highways and county roads in the county. State highways are identified by their number designation and county roads by class and type. The locations of schools, churches, prisons, and other landmarks are also noted. A legend is found in the lower right corner. The highway district in which the county is located appears below the title in the upper right of the map. The extreme eastern end of the county appears as an inset in the lower left corner. Supplements showing the state highways and county roads in Lake Waccamaw, Cerro Gordo, Chadbourn, Fair Bluff, Tabor City, Bolton, and Whiteville also appear as insets in the margins of the map.
