Separate indexes of place names with population as of the 1900 census for each state are included. A legend showing the symbols used for steam railroads, electric railroads, highways, canals, steamship lines, lighthouses, life saving stations, and battlefields as well as a table of distances are located beneath the cartouche in the upper left hand corner. The courses of rivers and streams are shown. Statistical diagrams with information on the composition and occupations of the population of the states are also present on the map.
