This map portrays pictorially the locations of significant events in the state's history, natural resources, agricultural and manufacturing products, points of interest, and educational institutions. A chronology of Important Historical Events; the words and music to "The Old North State"; and drawings of St. Paul's Church in Edenton, Tryon Palace, the state capitol; the Wright brothers flight at Kill Devil Hills, and the Lost Colony all appear as insets. The map notes the location of the Cherokee Indian Reservation and early Native American settlements in the eastern part of the state.
