This map's engraving was executed by J. C. Kondrup, H. C. Evans, A. Petersen, Adolph Linderfelft, and J. C. Thompson under the direction of Edward Hergesheimer. It portrays the Pamlico River for its entire length. Soundings are given for the river and its tributaries, and the locations of buoys are noted. Information relating to the soundings, tides, lighthouses, buoys, and abbreviations used is found in text appearing in the margins of the map.
