Abstract	Color print, mounted on linen in two sections. The map portrays North and South Carolina and parts of adjoining states. The frequency and types of mail service, mileage between post offices, and discontinued post offices are noted as of June 1, 1901. Counties are delineated and named; and towns, railroads, rivers and streams, and other physical features are shown and identified. Alphabetical lists of the counties of North Carolina and of South Carolina appear as an inset in the lower right of the map beside the title, and a chart entitled "Explanations of Mail Service" appears below the title. North Carolina railroads shown include the Southern Railway; the Carolina Central; the Carolina and North Western; the Atlantic Coast Line; the Norfolk and Western; the Aberdeen and Ashboro; the Moore County Rail Road; the Raleigh and Augusta; the Durham and Northern; and the Wilmington & Sea Coast Rail Road.
Historical Note	These post route maps were usually corrected and brought up to date four times a year.
