Based on Lawson's 1709 original, this map of the Carolinas, from Cheasapeake Bay to St. Augustine, Florida, was produced for J.R Ochs's "American Guidebook" a prospectus for Swiss settlers coming to America and particularly the Carolinas. The German-language legends indicate Indian villages, land quality, and the presence of mines.
