AbstractPrinted facsimile.  This map was prepared by William H. James, assistant engineer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers under the direction of Captain James Mercur. It was published in the annual report for 1887 of the Chief Engineer. The map portrays the Yadkin River from just above Bean Shoals on the Surry - Yadkin County line to the crossing of the North Carolina Railroad near Linwood in Davidson County. Tributary streams, mills, fords, ferries, and other landmarks are identified. Roads are shown, and the residences of some individuals are noted.
