Appalachian National Parkway, Shenandoah-Great Smoky Mountains Section, Proposed Recreational-Service and Scenic Area, Humpback Rocks-Augusta Co. Virginia, Land Map, December 1934
This land map shows a Proposed Recreational-Service and Scenic Area on the Appalachian National Parkway in the Shenandoah-Great Smoky Mountains Section, at Humpback Rocks in Augusta Co., Va. The map was created by C.K.S. in December of 1934. The proposed recreational area is labeled at the center of the map, and dotted lines outline the borders of the minimum and maximum proposed scenic areas. Solid lines indicate the borders of land owned by Mrs. Bernard McCrae, by the U.S. National Forest Service, and by Rockfish Valley Land Corp. The Appalachian National Parkway runs through the center of the drawing. At the bottom of the map there is an insert sketch showing the intersection of the Parkway Survey and the National Forest Survey. An additional note written to the left side of the map states that the map references Augusta County records at Staunton, Va., in order to determine boundaries of land owned by current land owners.
