About the Collection
The negatives in the Billy E. Barnes Collection are in two photographic formats: predominately 135 commonly referred to as 35mm, and 120, which has an image size of 2 x 2 inches. Barnes used the photography lab processing number to identify each roll of film. By clicking on a negative roll number, you may execute a search to display all the images scanned thus far for a specific roll of film.
Barnes maintained a photographer’s log that contained the following information: roll number, date, location, subject, and folder—the latter being the file location for the proof sheet, a photographic print made by contact printing negatives so that all the exposures made on a roll of film may be examined. The file location for the proof sheet is listed in the filed “Photographer’s Proof Sheet Category.” Proof sheet categories may be searched on the collection browse page.
