Title | Three-pound bill of credit, 1761 |
Creator | North Carolina. Colonial Assembly. |
Date | April 23, 1761 |
Description | Three pound bill of credit issued in New Bern, North Carolina in 1761. |
Historical Notes | Transaction signatures on the backside of colonial currencies are also useful to modern collectors when assessing the true condition of old paper money. The truncated or “chopped-off” signatures on the back of this specimen provide evidence that someone in the past trimmed its original borders to improve the bill’s overall appearance. |
