Newman’s "The Early Paper Money of America" (1997), the animal depicted on this bill is a bear overlaid with a pattern of stars representing the constellation Ursa Minor (“Little Bear”). This pattern, however, does not actually match the prescribed layout of that constellation (also known as the “Little Dipper”). |
