Title | Five-dollar bill of credit, 1778 |
Creator | North Carolina. General Assembly (Hillsborough, N.C.) |
Date | August 8, 1778 |
Description | Five-dollar bill of credit issued in 1778 and printed by James Davis in New Bern. |
Historical Notes | When compared to the North Carolina's earlier engraved currencies, such as those of 1775 and 1776, this well-circulated bill from the state's typeset issue of 1778 is much plainer in appearance. The 1778 issue is one of three that New Bern printer James Davis produced during the Revolutionary War. |
