Title | Ten-dollar bill of credit, 1778 |
Creator | North Carolina. General Assembly (Hillsborough, N.C.) |
Date | August 8, 1778 |
Description | Ten-dollar bill of credit printed by James Davis in New Bern and issued in 1778. |
Historical Notes | This is another heavily circulated, wartime example of this denomination. To bolster the worn bill, someone backed it with part of a page from a German biographical reference. Printed in old German script, it lists the birth dates of various kings and crown princes of Europe, such as King Gustav III of Sweden; King Ferdinand IV of Naples, and Paul Petrovich Romanov, the future czar of Russia. |
