Project description | Interviews, 1970-1993, conducted by Ben F. Bulla chiefly for his book Textiles and Politics: The Life of B. Everett Jordan: From Saxapahaw to the United States Senate (1992). There are also background materials, drafts of some chapters, and a complete unedited version of the book manuscript. |

Abstract | William F. (Bill) Blair worked as plant manager for the Sellars Dyeing Company owned by B. Everett Jordan. He discusses a little of his own background in Tennessee and his recruitment to run Jordan's factory; the advantages and disadvantages of life in Saxapahaw, N.C.; Jordan's personality and influence in the town; Blair's ultimate decision to leave; his dissatisfaction at his former job before moving to work for Jordan; and his relationship with his boss and with employees at the factory. |
