Abstract | Both John and Maggie Belle Stone Sears were born in Cary. John’s father owned two farms near the intersection of High House Road and Highway 55. Maggie’s father owned the farm at the corner of High House Road and Davis Drive. Her family also owned the farm and land on the north corner of High House and Davis, currently owned by Tim Council. The family cemetery is also on the Council land. Maggie talked about her life growing up in the area, meeting John at the original Green Hope High School, their marriage and five children, and what they did throughout their lives. John talked about his careers. They then talked about the development of Searstone, the senior assisted living development their son is building on the Stone family farmland. Once completed, John and Maggie will move into one of the houses there. |
