Image shows Supervising Dispatcher of Troop A Thurman C . Perry of the North Carolina Highway Patrol standing in front of the Highway Patrol radio tower in Williamston . Perry was 44 years old and a 24 year veteran of the Highway Patrol at the time of this photo . The tower was 400 feet high and sent and received messages for 42 cities and counties in North Carolina . This photo was taken for an article in the Rocky Mount Evening Telegram , September 22 , 1968 , page 3 B .
